Jason Epler Emergency Medical

Donation protected
Jason Epler is an active, young family man from South Lyon, MI., father of two and husband to beloved wife, Alison. Thursday evening, August  24 Jason went to ER with some back pain. He was sent home with pain meds. By Friday, August 25,  Jason had some weakness in his leg. Saturday morning, August 26, he had weakness in both legs and hands. Jason went to the University of Michigan Hospital on Saturday, August 26 and is fully paralyzed from shoulders down and dependent on a ventilator.  Jason was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord.  It is possible Jason may recover, but the recovery is going to be a long and slow process.  Jason recently had a tracheotomy so he is more comfortable on the respirator during the weeks and months ahead.  Jason has been receiving plasma exchange treatments and currently remains in ICU but looks forward to the day when he can transition to rehab and recovery at home.  Jason will need to have the house  converted for handicap accessibility along with transportation, and round-the-clock care, none of which is covered by insurance.   Additionally, the family will feel the loss of Jason's income as he recovers.

The urgent need for donations will support Jason Epler's medical expenses and allow for home modifications and financial support needed to transition to home rehabilitation and recovery.
