Five years! That’s how long it takes, on average, for a young graduate in Africa to find his or her first job. Without enough jobs available for job seekers, many turn to entrepreneurship to earn a living.
That’s where JA Africa comes in. Our hands-on programs provide entrepreneurship education to young people—through which many build a business, with real products and real profits—so that they can create jobs for themselves and others and bolster their local economy.
Working in 14 countries—Botswana, Burkina Faso, Eswatini, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe—JA provides training in entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, and work readiness. Exposure to entrepreneurship at a young age is critical to creating entrepreneurial mindsets and making entrepreneurship aspirational.
