To celebrate 100 years of The Rotary International Foundation doing good in the World, Burleigh Heads Rotary Club recently hosted a Black Tie Charity dinner on Saturday 18th March at the Surfers Paradise Marriott to raise funds to end Polio globally.
Special guest and Keynote speaker was Australian Olympic Gold Medallist, Steve Bradbury, who won the 2002 Winter Olympics ice skating. He is better known as “last man standing”.
Burleigh Heads Rotary  confirmed Microsoft founder Bill Gates & Melinda Gates have joined forces with Rotary International and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to continue the final phase of humanity’s fight against Polio.
“Since eradicating smallpox, this will be the second human disease mankind has all but eradicated to make our world safer for all children. In Australia alone there are over 300,000 polio survivors.
“Bill and Melinda Gates have pledged to match $2 for every $1 raised in the fight against polio.
Burleigh Heads Rotary invites the Gold Coast Business Community to donate and join the fight and make history today.
The 2017 Rotary Black Tie Charity Dinner to End Polio was supported by a number of Gold Coast businesses including Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast, 92.5GoldFM, Ambassador Leaders USA and My Jewellery Shop Nobbys Beach.
