ENDANGERED PROJECT: Appreciating wildlife's beauty to preserve it.
With looks inspired by endangered species, I hope to show the beauty of our world's wildlife, and bring awareness to conservation issues. I will especially focus on species that have gotten little attention towards conservation. I also hope to raise funds for non-profits organizations who are working towards conservation efforts.
Read on to learn more about the species that inspired this look, and how you can help!

2ND LOOK
The Forest Owlet
While searching for endangered birds, I was drawn to the forest owlet's soft colors and eerie feeling.
Another one of the forest owlet's distinctive features are its very large claws, allowing it to catch prey sometimes twice its own size. This species is endemic to the forests of Central India, where it resides in fragmented locations, the main one being the Melghat Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra.
Although recent research on forest owlets' populations has been promising, it still remains a highly endangered species, threatened by illegal lodging and agriculture. Although it also suffers from low productivity and predation, ecological concerns seem to be at the heart of its endangered state. The IUCN classifies the forest owlet as "Endangered", roughly estimating 250 to 999 individuals.
WWF India works locally to protect key areas, fighting against habitat destruction, and is active in the Ghats region, where the forest owlet and many other species are endangered and/or vulnerable. Half of your total donations will go to WWF (global), while the other half will go to WWF India. Receipts will be provided.

1ST LOOK
The Sumatran ground cuckoo.
While searching for endangered birds, I was immediately drawn to the vibrant colors around its eyes. Endemic to the island of Sumatra (Indonesia), this species is threatened by deforestation for agriculture purposes and hunting. The IUCN classifies this species as critically endangered, with an estimation of 50 to 250 specimens alive.
The Sumatran ground cuckoo is somewhat protected by Indonesian national parks or otherwise protected areas, although the lack of information about it makes its protection and conservation difficult.
The WWF partners with local organizations to preserve Sumatra's forests, and to fight against deforestation. I invite you to donate on this GoFundMe, 100% of your donation will go to the WWF. [Updated: half of your donations will go to WWF (global), while the other half will go to WWF India. Receipts will be provided.]
I also invite you to share this fundraiser if you enjoy this project!
Here's what you can do to protect the home of the Sumatran ground cuckoo:
- Buy certified wood and paper products.
- Avoid palm oil, or use sustainable one when necessary.
