End of life expenses Fried Family

My husband I are long time friends of this fine family and know they would never ask for a dime, so we decided to do this for them.

Mark is very ill and is now in hospice with advanced heart failure and copd, among other things.  His wife is a medically retired RN who had to quit working earlier than she wanted due to severe health issues of her own.  Her elder father also lives with them and they all take care of each other.

This family is struggling financially with the multiple trips to the hospital, which were a one hour drive one way, to visit Mark, everyday.  He has been hospitalized for the past 2 months.  As of yesterday, he was moved to their home town to a hospice facility.

My heart breaks a 100 x over for them as I know how much they love each other and how hard they have worked in their lives and for it to end up like this.  As far as I know, they do not have life insurance and once Mark passes, that is going to leave a huge gap in income for Tammy.   I imagine there will be resources for her to possibly access, but those things do not happen overnight.

I want everyone to know that I was not asked by the family to set this up.  But, I felt like it was needed.  I did however get the information needed, so that the funds will go directly to them, and not me.  I am going to also share the link to the site that Tammy is posting updates about Mark, so everyone can read in one place.  It was getting too hard for her to send 100's of emails to everyone and still spend time with Mark and try to sleep, etc.   You can click on the hyperlink here to go to that....... Welcome to our CaringBridge website.
