Encore! Acquire Handbells

Encore! Handbell Ensemble’s goal is to raise $11,000 to purchase a three-octave set of Malmark handbells, including cases, to have available January 1, 2019 to use starting with the Spring concert season. This purchase will help us further our educational mission of musically sharing the joy and art of handbell ringing in Northeast Wisconsin.
Recently, we began and internship program to provide less experienced ringers an opportunity to ring and grow with our ensemble. To relieve the pressure of having them ring on all our concert selections they will only ring on a select handful. For the remaining selections the interns ‘shadow’ one other part, next to the assigned experienced ringer. Having the interns ring alongside experienced musicians teaches good ringing technique, music reading, counting, and much more. However, that means we need more bells. The additional bells will:
· allow us to place intern/beginning ringers anywhere they are comfortable to mirror experienced bass and treble clef ringers during ensemble rehearsals.
· be used to solve problems at concert venues when stage/space constraints necessitate alternate bell table configurations. When this happens, we have to split our tables and are not able to share bells consistently between ringers.
· allow for ensemble growth, expanding our repertoire, and never worry about not having the handbell we need, where we need it.
Encore! Handbell Ensemble is a 501(c)3 non-profit community auditioned handbell choir. Founded in 2008, we are a dedicated group of musicians, committed to showcasing this unique performing musical art with two concert seasons a year. With repertoire spanning Disney, Led Zeppelin, Tchaikovsky, and more, we are out to prove that bells are not just for Christmas! Current annual funding, concert revenue and member dues, is primarily used to rent rehearsal space, maintain equipment and purchase music for the ensemble. The handbell ringers are not compensated. They volunteer their time for individual practice, ensemble rehearsals and performances.
Total cost to purchase handbells and cases:
· $10,545 Three-octave set of Malmark handbells with cases
· $ 527 Estimated tax at 5%
· $ 161 Estimated shipping
· $11,233 Total purchase (37 bells) including tax and shipping
Matching funds are available for the first $2,000 donations received.
