World Cancer Day is an international initiative which takes place every year on 4 February, and inspires individuals and communities to unite against cancer.

This year World Cancer Day is extra special as it coincides with the 20th birthday of Cancer Research UK. CRUK  is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research.

Meet some GoFundMe heroes who are raising money for charity and uniting against Cancer

Jamie, 23, from Glasgow is taking on not one, not two but FIVE marathons this year to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. He is taking on this epic challenge in memory of his friend Murray who died from a brain tumour aged 22.

Lauren,36, was diagnosed with breast cancer just months after getting married. As she underwent chemo she was given a cold cap to help preserve her hair. When she found out that each cold cap machine costs a whopping £20,000 she decided she wanted to do something about it. She is currently raising funds for  Clatterbridge Cancer Charity who fund the machines. She has raised more than £15,000 so far.

Rob took on a 1000Km walk along the The Israel National Trail (INT) to raise funds for Cancer Research in memory of his dad who died from acute myeloid leukemia during lockdown. Rob raised an amazing £23,031
