Empowering Women and Girls in Ghana

Hi Everyone!
As you may already know, I will be spending 2 months in Ghana working with FLOWER for my practicum which is manditory for my International Development Degree. FLOWER, (Facilitating Learning of Women in Emerging Regions) is a grassroots NGO based in Ghana, West Arica. FLOWER works with local partners to empower young women in Ghana realize their full potential, learn new skills and feel prepared to make decisions about their own lives.

The Plan:
During my time spent in Ghana, funding permitted, I will be expanding the work required from my practicum by taking the girls from the community on a field trip. This field trip will be an exposure trip. It will include a day spent at the university, talking to female students and teachers, therefore inspiring the girls to continue their education past high school. The field trip will also include a trip to the Cape Coast Castle museum, which was a critical part of the slave trade.

What you can do:
By donating to this fund, you will help encourage women and girls in Ghana, push past barriers they may normally face to become educated. 
Money funded will be used for the field trip that I will be overseeing. I will not be recieving any of the funds personally! 

In addition, if you donate $10 or more, you will be able to access a ticket ($10 per ticket) for a fundraiser I will be hosting at Earls on Main Street on March 27, 2017. This will include great people, live music and social prizes!
