Emmaus Solar Batteries

Donation protected
In July 2016, Emmaus Biblical Seminary (www.ebs.edu.ht) installed 135 solar panels to complement their generator system in Cap Haiten, Haiti. These panels can generate up to 30kw of electricity in the frequent sunshine of Northern Haiti. This new source of electricity has reduced the generator operation from 16 hours per day to 6. The school is saving $20,000 per year on electricity cost.

The batteries we now use were installed in 2011 to receive power from our diesel generators. During this time, they have received a great deal of heavy use. They are now beginning a serious decline in their storage capacity.

Here's the need: We need 24 Trojan IND23-4v batteries that have a 17-year life span. This will let us replace the old Trojan IND29 batteries that had a 10-year life span. One battery costs $1500 plus $118.50 for gofundme charges and processing fees making the total per battery $1,618.50. This total project will cost $38,844. This price includes shipping the batteries to our Haiti campus.

When? We would like to install these batteries during May 2018. This will give our maintenance director, Phil, a month to have the new battery configuration fine-tuned before his schedule changes in June.

THANK YOU for making any size contribution to this urgent project. Please contact us if you have further questions.

UPDATE: May 7.  Through this and other funding channels, we have now raised enough money to purchase 23 of the 24 batteries! We have just ONE MORE battery to purchase! Don't you want to get in on the closing deal? Thanks so very much for your support.
