When Emmaline's mother found out she was expecting, she was so happy. This baby would be her second, following ten years after her first son, who was a happy healthy little boy.
But, during the pregnancy, it was found that Emmaline had a rare chromosome dirorder. Doctors were convinced that Emmaline was fated to be stillborn or live less than 3 years. Her mother wouldn't accept that. She chose to give Emmaline a fighting chance, even against doctor's advice.
And Emmaline came out fighting - and very much alive.
Emmaline was born with the 12P14Q chromosome disorder - Emmaline was the only one to have this disorder in the world. On top of varying health issues, it was found that her heart was missing a chamber. Everyone is born with four, but Emmaline only had three. Doctors made it clear that she could not live for long with only three chambers. But, once again, the doctors underestimated our sweet Emmaline.
Her will to live was so strong that her heart naturally formed a wall in the third chamber - creating the fourth chamber she needed to be able to live. Doctors were amazed and taken aback by Emmaline's accomplishment.
With some medical assistance and a devoted mother, Emmaline lived 17 full years. In that time she captured the hearts of everyone she met. Everywhere she went she was showing unconditional love to everyone within sight.
Until November2nd, 2016 - just 8 days before her 17th birthday - Emmaline's temperature spiked. Her mother brought her to the hospital, aware that her child was ill, but sure that it was a routine viral infection that only needed anti-biotics.
Turns out that Emmaline had gall stones. These gall stones were causing pain and a high fever, among other complications. The fever prevented doctors from performing surgery to remove the gall stones. So, many remedies and attempts were made to bring her fever down.
During this time Emmaline grew tired. After all, she had been fighting for weeks. Her lungs grew tired, and she was in so much pain that relaxing wasn't even the slightest bit possible.
Emmaline was sedated and placed on a ventilator.
On February 2nd, 2017, Emmaline was overcome by complications and her mother watched as the vitals dropped and the line monitoring her heart went flat.

As broken as her mother was, she decided to have Emmaline's corneas donated so that a part of Emmaline could go on to see the world. Two children who were previously blind can now see through Emmaline's eyes.

Now, we're reaching out to the community in hopes of raising enough funds as life insurance could not be granted due to Emmaline's pre-existing condition.
Emmaline's funeral service details are below, but we need your help to be sure Emmaline can have the service and burial she deserves.
Anything at all that you can give is going to count toward her burial expenses. If you can't donate, but want to help - please share Emmaline's story.

Rest in Peace, sweet Emmaline.
