Emma's Dream School

Hi world! I’m Emma, a 19 year old from Finland who, simply put, just loves musical theatre. 

Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamt of being able to study musical theatre and getting my bachelor’s degree in it, and now – an amazing opportunity beyond anything I could’ve ever even imagined has come my way. I’ve been accepted into Sheridan College, the best and most competitive musical theatre program in Canada – and maybe even North America. This program is everything I could’ve ever dreamt of, but there’s only one little problem: me being an international student means that my tuition is almost triple what it is for Canadian citizens, (which I completely understand) but for a 19-year old student-to-be, it’s not that great of a situation.

Sheridan College isn't just a school to me. To me it represents achieving my goals, working my way up to everything I've ever wanted, and being surrounded by people who share my love and passion for theatre and understand my references that usually make no sense to other people. 

Musical theatre is a way to give a moment of magic to people.  I want to bring people happiness by singing a song, by making them laugh, by doing all the things that are so beautiful in their complex simplicity.

Your donation would mean the absolute world to me. It would mean that all my hard work hasn't been for nothing, that there is a way for me to reach everything I've wanted and that everything I've done so far, matters. Because you and I? Our dreams matter. Just like Lupita Nyongo said in her Oscar acceptance speech: "no matter where you're from, you're dreams are valid." And just because my passport doesn't say "Canada" on it, my dream of attending this school shouldn't be any less important. My school may not offer me financial aid, but even a $1 donation from you is all I need. Thank you for believing in our dreams and believing in me, I promise I'll do my best to make you proud.
