Emily Rose is a 14 Year old girl who has been diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing's Sarcoma. Emily's cancer diagnosis went undetected for years and unfortunately became known in the late stages of cancer, stage 4. Ewing  sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in bones or in the soft tissue around the bones. This cancer most often begins in the long bones of the pelvis, legs or arms, but it can occur in any bone. Less often, Ewing sarcoma starts in the soft tissues of the arms, legs, abdomen or other locations. Ewing sarcoma is more common in teenagers and young adults, but it can occur at any age. Ewing sarcoma can spread from where it started to other areas, making treatment and recovery more difficult. For example, the cancer can spread to other tissues, bone marrow, other bones or to the lungs. This is evident in Emily since recently a few spots were found on her lungs for which she will be undergoing a biopsy this week.
Emily lives with her mother, father and older brother Joseph who has Aspergers Syndrome and recently started CSI College.  Emily is currently in the 8th grade at IS34 and would like to attend Tottenville High School in the fall. Emily loves singing and in particular loves a group called Why Don't We. Emily is very family oriented and is very helpful when it comes to helping those with problems.  Emily wants to be a school counselor so she can help kids. Emily also loves baking, arts and crafts, family holidays and parties. Emily is a very friendly, kind young lady who has a big heart and loves to help others.
This is why it is with great pride I am looking to help this lovely young lady.
Emily will begin treatment on Monday at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.  This will entail intense chemotherapy/radiation for three days straight followed by two weeks home for a duration of 7 months at this pattern. Surgery to remove any remaining cancer will most likely follow. As with other types of serious cancer, aggressive chemotherapy and radiation for Ewing sarcoma can cause substantial side effects, both in the short and long term. Treatment and the next few months will be difficult for Emily and her entire family.
The next few months will be a very difficult period emotionally and financially for Emily and her family.  While Emily's mom has a steady job, Emily's father only works seasonally. However, both parents will be taking significant amounts of time off from work to help with Emily's treatment and will  not be receiving any pay during this time.  Emily will need to be shuffled back and forth to treatments in the city several times a week for the next 7 months at minimum.  Unfortunately at this time it is not even known how much of her treatments will be covered by insurance but the parents are not sacrificing any treatments due to lack of funds.  Making things even more difficult is the fact that Emily's family was also one of the Staten Island families who completely lost their home during hurricane Sandy.  Funds received from this campaign are greatly needed by this family to make sure that Emily gets the best care possible and the chance to beat this cancer, graduate 8th grade go on to high school and become the type of woman that will help others. Please find it in your heart to donate as every amount is greatly appreciated and no amount is too little.

Hi everyone. Emilyrose will be starting her 14th round of chemo on Monday. Her scans came back showing inflammation in her gallbladder. We need to keep an eye on it. Emilyrose was pleasantly surprised by "Spaces of Love" with a room makeover for her and her brother Joey. They did an amazing job combining a fuctional room for them to share. Emilyrose was also surprised with a new puppy she named Maggie. Maggie has been a blessing for her and her brother. It is true how much a pulpy can help with anxiety and PTSD. Emilyrose had been so happy and looks forward to each day playing and snuggling with Maggie instead of stressing and crying about the chemos after effects. The only thing weighing on Emilyroses mind is the 15th round of chemo. The 15th round will be very intense and the side effects are very painful. Please continue to pray. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.

Hello, Emilyrose is getting ready for her 13th round of chemo. The 13th and 14th rounds are not as aggressive as the 12th round so she will not suffer with sores. We are NOT looking forward to the 15th round but We will cross that bridge when we get there. One day at a time. Emilyrose's Christmas was absolutely beautiful. Staten Island Hospitals EMS got together and came to our house dressed as Santa and delivered gifts for us all. Emilyrose was ecstatic. Thank you all for your love and support. Please keep donations going we dont have alot of time left to meet our goal. Have a Happy and HEALTHY New Year.
