Emergency Medical funds for Wynona

Donation protected

I don't even know where to begin as I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I took Wynona to the vet yesterday morning because she became lethargic, didn't want to eat and had vomited twice overnight. Blood work showed that her white cell count was very high at 21,000 as well as elevated liver enzymes. She had an ultrasound which showed evidence of pancreatitis, fluid in her abdomen and an infection in her liver with some possible signs of liver damage. The vet performed a tap to remove the fluid that has been sent out for testing to see what is going on and hopefully causing it. She was given antibiotics and fluids but she was not getting any better so I had to take her to the ER where she was admitted for supportive care and further testing. I don't usually ask for help with my dogs but right now I am reaching out for it. I am worried, scared, and my heart is breaking knowing she is sitting in the ER for an unknown amount of time.

Wynona is a survivor who has been through so much already. As a dwarf pit bull (weighing 25 lbs full grown) she was born with orthopedic deformaties and I was told by her specialists that a dog with her condition usually does not survive past the first few months of life. At 4 months old she was fighting an infection in her spine that made her very sick and was working with a neurologist. Against the odds, she pulled through and recovered. All her doctors said that on paper this is a dog that most would euthanize; that the paperwork tells a story of a dog that will never be able to walk or live a quality life. But then they met her and saw her will to live and run and be happy. Her little body and spine are not formed correctly but she worked hard through therapy to be able to walk on three legs after her bum leg was removed to free up her good leg. She is the happiest little girl and I'm left feeling helpless seeing her so sick.

Wynonas medical bills are climbing. She has one bill from her primary vet and one from the Emergency Hospital where it is undetermined what it will be which depends on how many days she has to stay there. Right now the estimate is 1-2 nights as that is what we are praying for. Most of my money has been going into the new rescue that I started 4 months ago so money for personal use has been very tight. Wynona is not under the rescue so her medical bills fall solely on me. She did not qualify for health insurance like my other dogs because of her medical history. I cannot imagine how it would be without her in our lives so she is receiving the best care I could get for her.

For those that follow her story, she has been waiting to get a hip replacement that is being custom made for her as we speak so she can finally run and stand up straight and not feel any discomfort. Every day she wakes up giving kisses and smiling big and playing with all her siblings and the foster dogs here. I am praying she recovers or I don't know what I will do. I run a rescue and raise funds to save homeless dogs like she was and now I am sitting here trying to find a way to actually save her :( I just want her to live the happy normal life that she deserves. Please say a little prayer for her tonight. I know she can hear it. If for any reason the ER bill ends up being less at discharge, anything over will be donated directly to the rescue that I have devoted my life to. If you want to help and prefer paypal the amount will then reflect on the total and it will be reduced on the campaign ([email redacted]). Thank you.
