I am a senior citizen, living on a fixed income, in Tampa, Florida. I am the sole support of my daughter, who is unable to work due to Autism combined with a Severe Anxiety Disorder. I own a 2001 Saturn. In 2015, the a/c failed. I was not able to afford the cost of repairs. We managed by rolling down the windows, and not driving during the heat of the day.
Recently, the power window system has failed. Yesterday, as I was driving I estimate it was over 85 degrees inside the vehicle. Unless something changes, I will not be able to drive the car after mid April. I do not believe it would be safe for me to drive under these conditions. Heat related illness is a valid concern for me or for a passenger.
I spoke to my mechanic. He is a wonderful man and has offered to replace the a/c and fix the window problem for a total of $1016.34 including taxes. He does require 50% of the cost to be paid before he can begin the repairs. I am asking for $560 – the additional amount will cover the GoFundMe expenses. I will be able to pay the remainder on a monthly payment plan. If together we exceed the goal, that would be ever so helpful towards my paying off this debt.
