Emergency Animal Shelter Assistance
Juniper Flat Fire Safe Council and Fire Safe Council of Siskiyou County are raising funds to purchase portable kennels and equipment to shelter dogs and other small animals which have been evacuated during wildfire or other disaster. We will donate the kennels to Siskiyou County Animal Control. If we exceed our goal we will assist other local animal welfare agencies.
Juniper Flat Fire Safe Council (JFFSC) is a community group which works with CAL FIRE, USFS, Mt. Shasta Vista Volunteer Fire Company on fuel reduction projects, educational outreach, prevention, evacuation planning and more to prepare our community to survive wildfire.
This project is part of an ongoing effort to encourage people to be prepared to evacuate all members of their families, including their animals. Knowing there is a safe place for their pets encourages people to evacuate promptly, which in turn increases safety for themselves, firefighters and the entire community.
JFFSC meets at 10 am on the second Tuesday of every month, except for December in the conference room at Big Springs Church, 7220 Hwy. A12 in Big Springs. Everyone is welcome.
