Yo soy Mauro Antonio Barra, primo de Elvira, vivo en Longueuil, Montreal-Canada, y el dinero recaudado será enviado a Elvira para sus tratamientos y para el trasplante de riñón tal como se explica a continuación: Mi nombre es Elvira Barra, soy Venezolana, abogada y tengo 27 años, a pesar de ser una adulta tengo alma de niña. Soy amante de lo geek y asiático, mi sueño es algún día tener la oportunidad de conocer Japón. Deseo seguir formándome en mi carrera y conseguir la especialización. Mi vida era normal hasta octubre de 2016, cuando comenzaron los síntomas y descubrieron 3 bacterias alojadas en mis pulmones, estuve hospitalizada con antibioticoterapia por una semana y por el momento parecía resuelto el problema. Al cabo de un mes surgieron nuevos síntomas, comencé a tener fiebre frecuentemente y dolores en todo el cuerpo, por lo tanto decidí hacerme un exámen de sangre, en donde los valores de creatinina y otros evaluadores renales salieron muy elevados. Me hospitalizaron nuevamente y al tener fallas respiratorias entré a terapia intensiva intubada por 2 semanas, más 10 días hospitalizada para tratamiento intravenoso, en total estuve ahi 1 mes ingresada. El diagnóstico que dieron los médicos fue Granulomatosis de Wegener que es una enfermedad autoinmune que provoca inflamación de los vasos sanguíneos, en mi caso se vieron afectados los riñones. A raíz de eso dependo de hemodiálisis 3 veces por semana, un proceso para purificar la sangre. Pasé un año relativamente bien, sin ningún tipo de complicación, hasta diciembre del 2017 cuando sentí un dolor insoportable por todo el cuerpo. Volví a ingresar en cuidados intensivos por 13 dias, porque presentaba hipertermia, palpitaciones y malestar general, con diagnóstico de Shock Séptico producto de una bacteria llamada Estafilococos aureus (SEPTICEMIA) que entró a mi cuerpo a través del catéter de diálisis. Este episodio tuvo consecuencias, perdí 95% de audición en el oido izquierdo y en el oido derecho perdí un 59%, otra de las consecuencias fue necrosis en la primera falange de todos los dedos de las manos y necrosis completa en todos los dedos de los pies, para eso requiero una cirugía de manos, pies y un implante para el oido. Actualmente dependo mucho de mi familia, lo que podía hacer cotidianamente antes de enfermar, como tener salidas con mis amigos, salir a un café o cualquier cosa, hasta las tareas de día a día como tomar un baño, se me han vuelto difíciles. No he podido realizarme un trasplante por la situación país que vivimos, además me cuesta mucho conseguir mis medicamentos. En Venezuela existe una crisis de salud, los hospitales se encuentran en una situación precaria, no tienen insumos para atender emergencias, las clínicas son extremamente costosas, en el país hay una escasez absoluta de medicamentos e insumos médico-quirúrgicos. Es por ello que acudo a las personas del mundo con buen corazón que deseen ayudarme para salir de esta enfermedad y tener una vida plena! My dream is to eventually continue my studies in Japan and obtain a masters degree I used to live a normal life until October 2016 when the symptoms started and doctors discovered three bacterias in my lungs. I was hospitalized and treated with a therapy based on antibiotics. For the period of a week everything seemed normal, like things were sorted out, until a few months later then symptoms begun again. Fever started and my whole body was in pain. A blood test determined that creatine and other renal values were higher than the normal levels. Once again I was hospitalized, this time I suffered from breathing failures and was taken to the ICU. During two weeks I was intubated and received intravenous treatment. After a month in the hospital I was diagnosed with Granulomatosis of Wegener, an autoimmune disease that causes the swelling of blood vessels. In my case, it affected my kidneys. Because of this I depend on haemodialysis three times a week. This is a process that purifies blood. I had a relatively good year, without any health complications. That was until December 2017, when I felt an unbearable pain all over my body. I returned to the ICU for a period of 13 days because I presented hyperthermia, palpitations and general malaise. I was diagnosed with septic shock, caused by a bacteria called estafilococos aureus (septicaemia) that reached my body through the dialysis catheter. Due to this episode I lost 95% of my hearing in my left ear, and 59% in my right ear. Additionally I have necrosis in the first phalanx in all of my fingers and total necrosis on all of my toes. This is the reason why I need hand and foot surgery and a hearing implant. At the moment I depend a lot on my family. Daily basis activities that were normal for me before getting ill (going out with my friends, taking a shower) have became very difficult to do by myself. I haven't been able to get a kidney transplant due to the hard situation we live in my country, also it is very difficult to find my medication. In Venezuela we're going through a health system crisis. Hospitals are in a precarious situation; they don't have supplies to attend emergencies. The clinics are extremely expensive. The country is suffering of a complete lack of medicines and surgery supplies. This is why I address to all the good hearted people around the world that would like to help me overcome my disease and have a fulfilling life! Every contribution counts, even if it is a small one.
