ELSIE'S EYE ARMY - BEATING BLINDNESS!
Elsie has been diagnosed with Optic Nerve Hypolasia (ONH) which means her optic nerve (nerve that connects the eye to the brain) hasn't developed properly, Elsie's is 50% smaller than it should be which means she is visually impaired. At this moment in time we are unsure how much she can or will see.
Elsie is under Moorfields Eye Hosptial and in November she failed a VPR test: this shows us what the brain is receiving, the results came back empty which is where Elsie recieved her CVI (Certificated Vison Impairment). Since then Elsie is doing fantastic and has been showing us that she is seeing things, her Ophthalmologist agreed to give her glasses to magnify what she can see, however one of the complications with OHN is Septo Optic Dypolsia (SOD). 88% of people with ONH will get it, this can cause growth hormone troubles, stress, rapid weight gain/loss and worse case this can effect everything she's worked so hard. Elsie is under Great Ormond Street for her SOD testing and as of 30.05.19 we got her results that her bloods are currently clear!!
China offer stem cell treatment into the Optic Nerve, which has a 80% success rate. It might not be 100% vison but any improvement will be amazing. IF Elsie does get SOD, this treatment will no longer be available for her so we need to beat SOD!!
Like most things in the world this treatment isnt cheap..
In honour of this gorgeous brave little girl Myself and Tilly Baldwin will be taking on 10,000ft SkyDive on the 15th September 2019.
