ELLIOT & OTHER MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

$1,300 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 16 people in 9 months
2017 ended badly, with two emergency euthanizations (one actually on New Year's Eve).
2018 has begun with more medical emergencies, and they have depleted our resources almost completely.

So we thought we would tell you about one in particular, and combine our fundraising for all of them into one.

Elliot.
When Elliot came into our care, he was about 5 weeks old, thin, sick with an awful Upper Respiratory Infection, and had the most horrible eye infection we have seen in a long time. He was blind, but we hoped with care, medication, and good nutrition, that he might recover at least some of his sight.
At first it seemed that our hopes were realized. The infection began to clear, and we thought he might see some light and dark.
But, his third eyelid was adhered to parts of his eye, and beacuse the infection was viral, as well as bacterial, it kept coming back. We treated it with drops and creams, but poor Elliot hated having things put in his eyes, and it became apparent that there really was no vision, and that the eyes were chronically painful.
After much heart searching, and consultations with several vets, and his foster family, we recently came to make the difficult decision to remove both of Elliot's eyes.
This may seem horrible, and drastic, but it will save him from a lifetime of pain, recurring infections, and medication on a daily basis, which he hates so much.
Elliot's surgery was done last Thursday. He is recovering well, and will be in for a checkup this week.

We now need to pay for Elliot's surgery and follow ups.
So we need to raise 1500.00 for him. As soon as possible so we can pay his bill.

We have several other Medical Emergencies to add to the total we are trying to raise.
Here are some of them.
Clementine came to us with two massive abscesses and had to have surgery.
Conor was attacked by a dog, and had to be euthanized (after hours at the emergency clinic and the bill was over 500.00).
Hunk came to us with a nasty abscess, and required immediate treatment.
An injured kitty came to us after having been hit by a car, and had to be rushed to the emergency clinic. She did not survive her injuries. The vet bill was over 500.00
And Odessa, Sassy and Geez Louise require major dental surgery, and antibiotics, and follow ups.

So we are in desperate need of funds, because we also have cats and kittens in care that require vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and general medical care. Most of our operating funds have been spent on these emergencies, and so we truly need your help!!

Please be generous!

And don't forget, Napanee Community Kitten Rescue, is an all volunteer organization. We receive no help from any level of government, nor from any corporation.
We are funded solely by adoption fees, donations and fundraising. We are also a registered Canadian Charity.

Elliot's surgery to remove his eyes was done. He is recovering well, and he was almost immediately a happier kitten!
He passed his checkups with flying colours. He now has the cone of shame off, and stitches out, and is back being silly, hungry and asking for treats on the dining room table!
