On the morning of April 17, we hugged and kissed our dad David as he lay in a hospital bed awaiting what was to be life-changing open heart surgery. His post-surgery goal: to ride his bike again without feeling breathless. Dad had been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, a disease of the heart that reduces oxygenation of the blood, causing extreme shortness of breath, and the surgery was to be a total cure.
During the procedure Dad’s surgeon discovered much different and more severe problems than had initially been diagnosed; ultimately he would require a lung and kidney transplant, followed by months of intensive rehabilitation in Orlando at AdventHealth Hospital.
In the days that have ensued since his initial surgery, we have been overwhelmed by a series of medical complications and setbacks as well as miracles, and have been no less overwhelmed by the outpouring of support by people who have been blessed by the hero who is our DAD!
This crisis is larger than us.
We ask for continued prayers and HOPE!
