Electricity for Foxfire!

Foxfire Eventing is an educational program centered around a youth-founded project. Through interaction with horses, the Foxfire extracurricular program teaches and fosters growth mindset, responsibility, leadership, peer mentorship, volunteerism, and animal welfare. - Our teammates range from ages 7 to 18. Youth members build skills and community by learning about, and caring for, every horse on the property. Adult volunteers provide guidance and supervise. More program details are on our website, http://foxfireeventing.com. - On November 4 we turn back the clocks, and with the lost daylight, our middle and high school participants, and any members who have jobs, will be unable to ride on weekdays, while our elementary participants may be riding in near darkness. Our youth-led horse care and farm crew will be feeding and taking care of horses in the dark. Our water troughs will be left in the cold. - Please help us bring electricity to our lovely new home! We are in need of $4900. Through the generosity of Brian Parrish and his team at ELS, and with the invaluable skills and donations of time and labor from our member families, we will be able to light our riding arena, run electricity to all three turn-out fields, and put in water lines, pumps, and field light fixtures as well. Our full project will cost $7000. Brian and ELS have generously agreed to donate $2100, as well as some labor and use of equipment beyond their portion of the project. That means we need $4900 to get it all done! This is attainable with your help. - We moved to our haven at Hillview Farm in June, after the shock of losing our last home to an unforeseen property sale. We can't believe how fortunate we have been to find our new extended family and home at the Hillview property, and we are excited to continue expanding our programs with all the new farm has to offer. However, we had to leave the water and electric lines, light fixtures, and pumps we installed at the last farm. That project was funded entirely by members and installed by parents, friends, and our regular Foxfire volunteers. This year, with moving and our losses, we are unable to duplicate our efforts alone.
