El Nino flood waters ravage Peru

My name is Donald Truszkowski, I am from Wyandotte, Michigan  and I am running this campaign on behalf of my wife Melissa Moreno, a Peruvian native whose family lives in one of the affected regions. On Tuesday, March 14th, the entire western coast of Peru was hit by devastating El Nino rains causing unprecidented flooding throughout the coastal towns of Peru. The rain water came so fast and with very little to no warning, people were caught completely off guard. One of the towns hit particularly hard was Chimbote, the hometown of my wife's family. Streets were completely consumed by water, vehicles were swept away, entire homes were swept away by devastating mudslides as well as the main road leading into the city was completely destroyed, rendering the town and all its citizens literally landlocked, without means to get supplies into the city. There is one road leading in and out of the town and a bridge that must be crossed, and that bridge was completely washed away by the raging flood waters. I am starting this campaign to raise funds for the cities of Chimbote, Cascajal and Huambacho, so that people can buy essentials such as mattresses to sleep on, cleaning supplies, food, and water.  Once the campaign is complete I will sending the funds to my wife in Lima and she will proceed to put together care packages that will be sent to the 3 cities listed above.
