My name is Abdul Abdallah and I am the Head Coordinator of Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI). SARI are based in the city centre of Dublin. We use sports as a tool for social inclusion, social integration, peace building and to tackle different forms of discrimination.
Sport Against Racism Ireland in collaboration with Islamic Relief Ireland are happy to announce the 5th Annual Eid World Cup football tournament which will be held on Saturday 18th (women's competition) and Sunday 19th (men's competition) of August at The Law Society, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7.
The Eid World Cup is a fundraising tournament which was initiated by SARI Young Leaders with the goal of raising money to assist and create awareness for current social causes.
SARI and Islamic Relief Ireland have a strong partnership as we have worked on other projects together in the past. Islamic Relief Ireland have their own volunteers on the ground in Syria who will distribute the medical supplies to the different hospitals available.
Islamic Relief have secured containers of brand new medical supplies from the USA. Each container has a value of approximately $500,000 and will provide 4-5 hospitals in Syria with supplies to treat up to 15,000 patients. Islamic Relief only has to cover the cost of transport, customs and distribution ($36,000/€30,000) with supplies being delivered to local hospitals by staff already on the ground in Syria. When the desired target amount of funds has been raised, the funds will be sent to the Head Islamic Relief office in Birmingham. From there they will deal with the logistics, packaging and delivery of the medical supplies.
The Go fund me campaign was created for those who want to donate but are overseas or can't attend the tournament. Majority of the funds will be raised on the day of the tournaments through team registration, food sale, raffles and kind donations.
When all funds has been raised, they will be withdrawn and handed to the Head of Islamic Relief Ireland Khalil Ben who will then transfer the funds to the head office in Birmingham.
