Youth Video & Media Workshops

My goal is to bring more media and theater arts to students.  Beyond professional experience in the media industry, I've been a part-time educator of youth in media arts for seven years.   More and more, I find that schools desire arts integration.  When I teach in the afternoons the students are just not getting enough hours.  What they are getting is exposure.  I'd like to see them get more proficiency.  They are so excited  I find that children get the full benefit of STEAM education not just STEM.  They learn to write(scripts for news, PSAs and film), use technology(cameras, computers, iPads microphones), use their imagination, achieve goals(completing projects) and develop more confidence(speaking enunciation, how to pronounce words, pitch and feel good about discovering new abilities). I want to be able to afford to give this opportunity to kids. I know some parents can afford to pay me for services but many parents will never prioritize this kind of education.   In fact recently a young 5th grade boy wanted to take my media class but they thought it was more important he did sports.   I can't reach every child but let's reach more youth.   I have some equipment but to do this on a larger scale or better.  I will need more.   The kids in public schools have really inspired me with their zeal, creativity, and when I see them grow confident or begin to learn that reading and writing matters in areas of life they never expected.

They will use YouTube as a form to showcase their work and hopefully some film festivals.  


I can gear up for daytime, Saturday and summer workshops. Exceeding my goal with only help do this better and do this longer.  The longer I can work with them the education become a skill not merely exposure.
