Educate Africa

We are in Mafia Island off the coast of Tanzania and we have some big goals. While recently meeting with Parliment honorable Abdulkarim Esmail Hassan Shah (compared to a senator in the US), he informed me that the education system in Mafia is less than mediocre. They need help with teachers, with teaching english, art and many other subjects, and need better facilities for the schools. He also told me they need more jobs for the locals to get income to provide for their families.

Goal 1: Education Improvement





I believe that education is a HUGE way we can make a big impact for Mafia, and many, many other places in Africa. If we can help with getting these children better educated and loved, and taken care of while they are young, they can create such a difference using their knowledge for future business, future jobs, and a better economy. We are not here to just give hand outs and leave them on their own. My main goal, is to help the school system have the supplies they need, a healthy student to teacher ratio, and a learning environment to help them focus, learn & grow.

I will need help with this, that where you guys come in.

Here is what we need:
- School Books
- Backpacks
- Pencils, Markers, Crayons
- Calculators
- Workbooks
- Desks for each student (sitting on a concrete floor is not a great way to focus, and it very bad for their posture and health)
- Supplies for the teachers (binders, teaching plans, better english knowledge, etc)
- Food for the children at school. (It's so hard to focus when you don't have good food in your belly. We are trying to make it so at least they constantly have fruit, water & some snacks throughout the day to keep their brains at their fullest potential.)

Goal 2: Business training for the village women

I (Tracy) will be traveling to villages in Mafia and meeting women all over. We will form a group and we will be hand making items that we will bring back to the USA and sell. I cannot give away lots of details yet but I am SO excited about this project. I will teach the women how to make these things, I will pay them per piece they create, then we will sell the items at wholesale to stores all over the place. The profits we make will go back into helping the business, and bettering the education, and also a portion will go into an African Reflections fund to build more clean water wells here in Tanzania.




This is all very exciting, but also a lot of work.

I have gotten multiple emails from you all asking how you can help... I finally have an easy way for you to do that. Just donate through this website, and we can get the funds here as soon as we can so we can start doing this work.

My suggestion?

Give up some Christmas presents.
Instead of spending money of presents that most people forget by the next year, give them a card saying you donated the money to help give someone an education... a meal... a hopeful future.

Maybe instead of asking for birthday presents, send your friends to this site and donate your birthday to a great cause.

Sell something you don't need...

Give up coffee for a month...

Be creative. It's so easy to change someone's life... don't make excuses. Let's DO something!
