My name is Sarah and I wanted to share the difficult and devastating story of what my husband and I and our 5 children are going though..
My husband is having treatment for grade 4 aggressive brain cancer and has been given 6-12 months to live.. without treatment he could be gone in as little as 2 months but with treatment could last 12 months.
Though we are doing everything we can and are staying positive, it is hard as we have been told the tumor is covering most of the right side of his brain and is spreading to the left.
My husband and I have both come from very difficult backgrounds and many years ago turned our lives around. We met and were married and started our family. We have 5 children who are 19 years, 12 yrs, 10 yrs, 8yrs and 9 month old baby.
The money raised will help fund the alternative therapies that we are trying to save John with and to help support the children and I for the future as we have no savings or insurance. These therapies are proven to help with this kind of brain cancer but are very costly.
As John cannot work anymore, and I am his carer, our income is very low and we have been relying on family to try to help us. We need help with funds urgently as time is running out.
My husband is trying to be brave but just wants to watch his kids grow up and get married.. he is devastated that he may miss that.
Our kids are being incredibly strong and just want dad not to suffer. They know that there is a chance that he will go to heaven early but they also know he will be happy there if he goes and he won't have to suffer any more.
The very sad thing about this story, apart from our children having to go through the possibility of losing their dad at such a young age, is that we believe this tumor has been caused by using his mobile phone to his ear for 2-3 hours a day for the past 10 years. The tumor that was removed is in the exact area that his phone sits, next to his right ear.
There is so much research that is now showing that using a mobile phone next to your ear for more than 10 years can increase the risk of malignant brain tumors by up to 40%, and I am shocked at how many people have old me of people they know who have suffered and died from brain tumors, even very young people.
We want to share the warning with any one who uses a mobile phone, particularly parents and tell them of the dangers. We hope that our story could help spread the warning and save lives.
