Critical funds needed for songbirds

Donation protected
My name is Jayne Neville and I run Mount Vernon Songbird Sanctuary in Southington, CT. I have been caring for CT's songbirds since 1997 and have cared for thousands of orphaned, sick and injured migratory birds.

The sanctuary funds are depleted and currently has outstanding bills . The sanctuary's main expense is the weekly shipment of live insects and other foods for birds in and out of rehabilitation. Without immediate funding the sanctuary will not be able to continue.

In addition last winters heavy snow collapsed two of the three flight cages required to condition birds prior to release. The remaining flight cage is in disrepair and needs to be replaced.

The plan is to knock the three cages down and replace with one large flight cage designed with two separate runs

Please consider donating to help me continue to offer safe sanctuary for CT's migratory birds.

This gorgeous Pileated woodpecker came into rehab as a young bird in the first week of July . The bird recovered from a fractured femur and radius/ulna and spent all summer in captivity recovering and then building back up the muscles and ability to climb trees and fly again. The bird has been soft released for over a month now and is still  returning for hand feedings as he learns where and how to find food on his own.
