Ed Watt's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Ed and Shuree Watt are some of the most monumental and generous members of our small community here in Finley.  We have started this GoFundMe in hopes that we could all rally around them in light of Ed's recent diagnosis.  I've seen some unsurpassed love and support from our community, and am hoping we can share some of that with the Watt Family. Ed is an entrepreneur, owning his own contracting company and their only source of income is through the small business he has ran for years with few employees. Without Ed's ability to work, there will be no income.  Though they have insurance, it will not cover all of the treatments, or any of the living expenses they will need to stay afloat, out of town appointments, insurance premiums, etc...

On March 21st, Ed started having a seizure at work that was uncontrollable.  He was lifeflighted from a job site to Sacred Heart in Spokane.  His Seizures were controlled with a medically induced coma.  He also had an MRI which showed swelling of his brain, but at this time it was unclear if the seizures were causing the swelling or if the swelling was causing the seizures.  After a few days in the ICU, he was released to go home with plans to be back in two weeks for a follow up MRI.

On April 1st, he began seizing uncontrollably and was once again airlifted to Sacred Heart.  After numerous tests and another MRI, it was revealed that Eddie had a large tumor in his frontal lobe.  Preliminary tests showed that it may not be cancerous, and on April 5th the doctor removed about half of the tumor, which was what he was comfortable removing without disturbing any healthy brain tissue.  Pathology reports came back on the 10th that showed the tumor is a grade 3 Astrocytoma.

His treatment plan was to spend a couple weeks in an inpatient rehabilitation facility, and to begin chemo and radiation therapy.  Unfortunately, his rehabilitation was denied by insurance on the 16th.  He has since been discharged to go home and begin chemotherapy and radiation locally as soon as possible.

I can only hope we can all give them some of the love and unwavering generosity they have always shared with everyone else.  Fighting cancer in itself seems like the longest road imaginable and recovering from brain trauma is especially hard for the patient and the family, it changes you in ways you couldn't even imagine.  Please continue to keep Ed and the Watt family in your prayers, and thank you for any help you may be able to give.
