ECU Nursing Students heading to India in 2019

Hi Everyone,  I am pleased to introduce Brooke, Kate, Nikki, Michelle, Ella, Sophie, Alex, Christie, Sam and Olivia. We are in our final semester of Nursing at ECU. We have been selected to participate in a two week international clinical placement. This placement is only possible due to the involvement from the International village care ministry (www.ivcm.org.au) The areas we are visiting are based in south India, where the locals have limited to no access to health care. Our main focus while in India will be providing primary health care to those who are unable to see a doctor themselves.  We will be providing nursing care to the locals by using health promotion tools and education we have gained throughout our degree thus far. We are lucky enough to have a local Registered nurse volunteer their time to help us with medications and translating for us. Throughout this placement we will be living in two children's orphanages which we will provide health checks too and we also visit a boys only orphanage for a day trip. The purpose of our fundraising is to be able to donate to these orphanages items they require to continue running and be functional to the children. We are also needing to cover the cost of medications and supplies we have used within the medical camps and the cost of having a doctor with us throughout the medical camps.
