ECR High School Mountain Biking

Most high school sports are funded by our school--football, basketball, soccer, softball, water polo--but not mountain biking.
That hasn't stopped our dedicated coaching staff who donates their time to train our kids, not only on the skills necessary to build technique and endurance for races, but also bicycle maintainance, proper nutrition and civic responsibility through participation in trail restoration activities in partnership with the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA).
El Camino Real Charter High School is a public high school in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley, where beautiful biking trails are plentiful. ECR Racing is a small but growing, coed, competitive team in our second year. Our goal is to provide a challenging and supportive environment for students of all skill levels to ride and compete. We compete in the SoCal League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). We seek to provide everything necessary for any student interested in biking. This includes providing bikes and safety equipment for students who don't have their own.
Our current financial needs are focused on transportation. All of the competitions are at least 2 hours from our school. We drive up the day before a meet and camp out so the kids can get familiar with the course ahead of time and can get a good night sleep before the races. For most races, a large van will allow us to take most of the kids, bikes and equipment. For races where there is dry camping only (no running water) we would love to have an RV. Other expenses include campsite fees, league dues (for students who cannot afford them), tuition for the coaches to attend the league leadership conference, and food for meals while camping.
Additionally, as we continue to expand, we would like to be able to continue to provide equipment to students who need it.
