ECO James Davey Line of Duty Injury

On November 29, 2016 late in the afternoon, James Davey an on-duty New York State Environmental Conservation, assigned to Columbia County, suffered a gunshot wound stemming from an investigation of shots fired in the area.
The officer received immediate and critical first aid from a fellow officer. He was further treated on the scene and transported to a local hospital where he received advanced medical care associated with a wound to the upper leg. Surgeons controlled the bleeding, and at this time the officer is recovering.
The hunting season is among the most challenging for Environmental Conservation officers (Game Wardens)- due to ever presence of firearms - and yesterday's incident underscores that fact. There are no days without risk or peril.
James and I attended the 16th basic ECO academy together graduating in 2005. We then were transferred to NYC for our 1st assigned post. I was patrolling Richmond County and he was on the Marine Enforcement Unit. I have know James for 12 years and couldn't be happier doing this.
All the funds raised here will be given directly to the Davey family. I set up the Go Fund Me account, but the funds will be handled and distributed to the Davey's by New York Conservation Officer Association (NYCOA) Vice President ECO Bob Peinkofer. So, there is a checks and balances system set up and we plan on being completely transparent with this fund raiser. Any questions or concerns please let me know.
It is going to be a long road to recovery for ECO Davey. NYCOA's- Davey Relief Fund is asking for your support to help offset medical costs, treatments, and equipment that will not be covered to aid in Jame's recovery.
