E.C.O ACCESS -YOUTH IN ACTION

Tax deductible
The Village, ECP and Heartvines Educational Farm, ECP are introducing a social innovative partnership to help youth in NW Arkansas and NE Indiana. Our combined mission is to create innovative ways to ensure young people experiencing adversity have support as they transition into adulthood. Creating access to job training, mentoring, civic stewardship, and intervention/prevention programs. The Village (Easing Childhood Poverty) and Heartvines Educational Farm, ECP have partnered together to provide outdoor recreational engagement/training for at risk youth*, scattered site safe havens, urban farming, life skills classes, job training, entrepreneurship skill building, mentoring, and emergency intervention services.
Our ECO ACCESS  YOUTH IN ACTION project is launching April 2018, our project scope involves:
Food Access( age group: 5 and over) we educate students on the importance of natural practices. Why we follow ethical growing standards, and how preserve and market goods grown throughout our workshop. youth participants will experience the farm to fork processes involving non-GMO/ open pollinated/organic seed selection, intensive agriculture techniques, soil amendments, pollinators and their roles in gardening, and why it's important to have local food accessibility
Homeopathy and Natural Medicine (age group: 11 and over with parents approval) participants will have an opportunity to grow their own aromatic, medicinal herbs to make wellness/skin products, ointments, first aid, and herbal teas. We educate students on proper plant identification, plant parts used to make products, identification of plant's medicinal properties, and the importance of using naturally made products versus commercially made.
Biodiversity and Pollinators ( age group 5 and over) Participants will learn what pollinators are, why they are important to our gardens, and how we can create healthy gardens through bio diversity.
Seed Library ( all ages) This is a free service Heartvines Educational Farm has  setup to give any interested community member access to free seeds, including information on how to grow a garden. Participants will enroll and “sign out” seeds. By the end of the growing season participants will be requested to let some of their plants go to seed from each variety they have signed out, once seeds are ready for processing (a guide is included with how to grow a garden) participants will contact us to come and collect seeds that will be returned to the seed library for next years use.
Wild Plant Identification ( age group: 5 and over) participants will have an opportunity to learn and explore what purpose wild plants have, indigenous plant identification, poisonous plant identification, and wild edible plant identification. This hands approach enables participants to become more aware of their natural surroundings and address misinformation of “weeds”, whether we are hiking or in our own backyards, this workshop integrates our multi faceted approach with youth opportunities and education through horticulture.
With your contribution we will be able to effectively help youth in 6 counties throughout 2 states! Our data combined shows over 9,000 youth in our areas experiencing poverty and what better way to address this pandemic than in the garden.
Our current partners include the JAM center (IN), ALLPS Alternative school(AR), local libraries in both states, and local business owners who are promoting our mission in both states. We have received amazing support from Seed Savers Exchange and Baker's Creek Heirloom Seeds with over 250 varieties of seed to use in our programs this summer.
