My furbaby needs surgery

My baby, Lexie, has a fracture to her front left leg caused by an accident while playing with my 7 year old daughter. My daughter is understandably extremely upset that this happened, as am I. 
We took Lexie to the vet, where they gave her pain meds and xrayed her. She has a serious fracture, and we were advised that due to the placement and her small size, surgery to place plates and pins would be needed. When the vet told me the cost, $3200, I about fainted. It is, unfortunately, not something we can afford to do, though I so dearly want to do whatever I can to help her. 
I told the vet that we could not afford it, he understood and said that he would cast her leg, but was not hopeful that it would heal on its own. He also told us that if it does not heal, we are going to be looking at amputating her leg. Of course, that is not something that I want to do. 
I am so scared that she will not heal, and after getting a second opinion, surgery is going to be her very best option. 

I am not one to ask for help but, in this case, I feel I have no choice. I have exhausted all other options. My Lexie is my baby and I just want her to heal correctly.
