Eben Powell medical fund

Eben Powell is my only brother. He is very ill with severe pancreatitis at St. Thomas hospital in Nashville. He has been in the hospital fighting to turn a corner and start a real recovery since July the 2nd. I have never witnessed with my own eyes the level of pain and suffering that he has gone through. Eben is a role model. He went back to college at MTSU at 52 years old and got his bachelors degree. He did so well, that he stayed on and got his masters degree in recording and engineering. The second they handed him his diploma, he had a job waiting for him at MTSU as an adjunct professor. The faculty and students at MTSU all love him and he is an inspiration to anyone who thinks it is too late to better yourself and make a difference in the lives of others. Eben was struck suddenly with very severe pancreatitis after a gallstone was detected and a stent placed to help it pass. He has no health insurance as he was caught between the insurance he had as a full time student lapsing and the insurance he would get from the university as a teacher once he met the qualifications. It’s only bad luck that this illness came in the short lame duck period in between coverages. Eben is frugal and money has never been his driver. He lives a modest life with roommates in Murfreesboro. The medical bill for a solid month or more in a hospital bed, trips to ICU and multiple ambulance rides will be beyond the pale. Professors at MTSU have set a schedule to cover his classes until he can return, but that will be sometime from now. Please reach deep and help out a wonderful friend and community member who is going to have an almost unthinkable financial hole to have to dig out of,  just as he was embarking on a true renaissance and reinvention of himself for the second act of life.  I have set the goal at what might be a tenth or less of his daily accruing medical bills just to reasonable and have something I know that together we can reach. In my heart I would love to blow right by that number and I’m asking everyone out there, from the truly financially blessed ones, to the person who doesn’t know me or Eben personally but perhaps was moved by a song that I was a part of, to give something and help move the needle on behalf of a beautiful brother and a wonderful human who never stopped growing and trying to better himself.
