Help Baby Easten Thompson Fight Leukemia

December 31st, 2018, was a day that would change our lives , when we found out that 3 month old Easten Thompson was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, (AML), an exceptionally rare form of cancer that is almost never seen in infants.

The days that followed this devastating news have barely given his family the time to process the magnitude of what this diagnosis would mean for Easten and their lives. He immediately underwent a Spinal Tap, bone marrow tests and had a picc line inserted into his chest to deliver the chemotherapy. Jen and Peter dropped everything in their lives and moved full time into the hospital to care for Easten. The aggressive nature of this cancer was already becoming apparent as his organs began to visibly swell and a mass appeared on his neck.

AML is a fast-growing cancer and needs to be treated quickly. Easten is currently receiving his care at Saint Justine hospital in Montreal. The doctor’s plan to treat his Leukemia begins with getting rid of the cancerous cells in his spinal fluid by injecting it with chemotherapy. Three negative tests will be required for this area to be considered cancer free. The second part will be to get rid of the leukemia in the blood by doing IV chemotherapy through his veins. Each cycle will entail two chemo treatments per day for 10 days straight. This whole process will hopefully take not more than 5-6 months. At the end of each month they will analyze his blood to see how many leukemia cells are left.



As you can imagine, these next few months will be unimaginably difficult for Easten and his family. To help Easten fight this long battle, Jen & Peter need to be by his side and still have to care for their 21 month old son Ellis at the same time. This campaign was created on their behalf to help them get through this tragic time. The timing could not be worse for their family, as Peter was just beginning a new career in real-estate, which will now be on hold. Donations will help relieve the financial burdens of things like the cost of transportation, hospital residence & parking, help paying for their mortgage and much more.
