East Gippsland & beyond fire affected children

Many people, animals and children have been affected by the devastating bushfires around Australia. Over the weekend we received a notification that in the relief centre in Bairnsdale which had over 600 people and there were a number of children on the spectrum or with sensory sensitivity struggling with the magnitude of the situation.

The call out we received requested sensory based toys to help support the needs of children. We have worked together with Sensory Connect and members of the Bairnsdale community to collect donations that will be delivered this week. Bairnsdale relief centre will then distribute sensory items to surrounding towns through to Southern NSW and with our hopes beyond to all those affected by fire across Australia.

We have received a number of requests from people interstate wanting to show their support and help. We (under my name Cat Sanz) have set up this fund for those unable to assist with physical donations but wanting to help get supplies to the children specifically on the spectrum. We now have a number of sensory toys being gathered,  our ongoing concerns are around hygiene items 

The items this money will go towards includes;
-Nappies
-Baby wipes
-Hand sanitiser
-Mattress protectors (waterproof)
-Nappy balm
-Noise cancelling head phones

Additional items we are gathering donations across Victoria include:
-Sensory balls/activities
-Teething rings
-Weighted blankets
-Weighted toys
-Dry brushes
-Massage balls
-Playdoh
-Plastic water bottles
-Keyring objects- either soft or sparkly
