Easing a difficult time for Emma’s Family

Donation protected

Happiness, carefree, freedom... things every 10 year old should experience during Spring Break. Instead Emma is beginning the battle of her life. She is beginning her first round of Chemotherapy.

Emma had been experiencing pain in her leg and at the end of February after an x-ray Emma was sent to Children's Hospital. Doctors discovered after a first series of tests it was a tumor - Cancer. After another round of painful tests and scans it was discovered that it has moved into Emma’s lung. The diagnosis at this time is Metastasized Ewing Sarcoma.

Treatment at at this time is aggressive, as it is an aggressive form of cancer. Emma will need to stay in the hospital for 3 to 5 days bi-weekly for a round of chemo every second week.
Emma will not be returning to school to end her elementary career as a grade 5 student at Castle Park Elementary. That means possibly missing camp, graduation, all those exciting things in every ten year olds life.

Emma has a difficult battle ahead and of course needs the constant support of her family. A parent wants to be by her side at all times, which will be a financial strain on the family.
One doesn’t think of all the extra costs that comes with a situation like this. Some examples include parking for hospital stays, gas travelling to and from Vancouver, medication... things that should not burden a family during this difficult time.
At this point treatment will be a minimum of six months and quite possibly longer. We want Kevin & Nicole to be able to focus on Emma and her recovery and keeping life as normal as possible for Emma's four year old brother Ben. So our hope is that finances will be the least of their worries during this very difficult time.

We thank you in advance for reading the beginning of Emma’s journey and are grateful for your generosity and prayers.
