Earthlodge Pit Restoration & Compost Toilet

The Earthlodge has provided community engagement and service through over 150 Earth connecting ritual/ceremonies. Many of our community ceremonies take place within the Earthlodge's sacred Earth pit- descending 9 feet into the earth and with 35 foot diameter. The Earthlodge is home to one of the most potent urban ritual & ceremony healing womb pits in Los Angeles county.
With the ever growing use and demand, we are also seeing an increase in wear and tear that must be urgently addressed. The Pit is eroding and is in need of stabilization and regeneration. With each season, the soil walls are eroded further. The infrastructure is in need of an upgrade to become more accessible, including wood steps renewal, addition of railing and permanent seating at the top of the pit for those who cannot descend into the pit.
Your donation toward the earth pit fortification will ensure that future generations will have access to this medicine. This fundraiser will support the acquirement of all materials from CalEarth, including other materials such as shovels, cement and other tools. We will be providing food and nourishment for our community members who participate in this sacred process, and also want to be sure we can honor their labor in ways that are sustainable.
One of our long time community land stewards, Delia Herrera has generously committed to lead the restoration of the Earth pit, with the support of up 30 volunteers to bring this project to completion! Delia spent part of last Spring in San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, participating and getting certified with Cal Earth, California Institute of Earth Architecture, in construction with superadobe.

Queen Hollins is the Principal Steward of the Earthlodge Center for Transformation (also called the Earthlodge). The Earthlodge was established in 2004 in Long Beach, CA., and has become a beacon of inspiration and self-healing for LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer) and gender non conforming communities.
MISSION STATEMENT: The Earthlodge Center for Transformation is a spiritual sanctuary and oasis located in the urban area of Long Beach that provides a safe space for LGBTQI, women of all ages, and our allies of all races/social/spiritual/economical and cultural backgrounds to meet and build community with one another, fellowship, have ceremony, tend the earth and herbs, learn about nature based spiritual principles, to have sacred weddings, to have spiritual baby welcoming ceremonies (babyshowers), death rites of passage ceremonies, conduct nature based workshops and more.
Our community seeks to transform, heal, restore balance within and celebrate all aspects of our lives. Our intention is to mend any sense of separation from society as a whole and to reintegrate with tools that will instill an overall sense of wholeness, oneness, self-acceptance and well being through connecting back with nature.
