Hello everyone,
Nearly 29 years ago, I was born in a small village in the Dominican Republic named Hato Del Medio Arriba.
It is a small and very modest village in which most of the population survive off of agriculture and small livestock farming.

Unfortunately, most people don't have access to education and therefore are unemployed. It saddens me to see that nearly 30 years later the education system hasn't made any significant progress. Many people are still in a situation where they lack financial resources and access to education for their children.
This is what motivates me to organize this campaign. Toddlers from 2 to 5 years old are refused any type of pre-scholar education due to the lack of commitment and resources from the government.
Although there are many places in the city where they can privately send their children to receive an Early Childhood Education, it isn't an option for those parents who the lack financial resources to make it a possibility. (Considering that the commute is nearly 4 hours by bus and the cost of private school isn't within their means.)

100% of the kids below 5 years of age are DENIED education in this small community. They don't have the opportunity to develop their intellect, artistry, social skills and much more. I, myself, was a victim of this situation and I continue to see it occur amongst children in my family and many other children who still reside in the village.
These children have so much potential and they are relying on this program for an opportunity of a brighter future and a change in the pattern of their daily lives.
Many parents can only wish that they could send their children to receive some type of education.
As an initiative that has started and is now officially in motion, we would appreciate it if you could help us raise this amount of money so that we can build a small classroom for 40 children, including Dominican & Haitian-Dominican born children, to have the opportunity of receiving an Early Childhood Education.
We have calculated that for this small amount of money, we can prepare a classroom for 20 children and 2 teachers at a time. Twice a day, we will receive children for a few hours a day.
This will allow children to learn and mothers carryout their daily duties.

We will need to build everything from scratch and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We already spoke with the principal of the elementary school and she is willing to give us one of the classrooms to support the project. We know that she will not have the final say therefore we have to fight for this project. We are now in the motion of accruing the signatures of all the mothers, fathers and pregnant parents to ensure that their children will participate. Meetings are taking place and volunteers have come forward.
It will not be easy but if we ALL WORK TOGETHER, we can make this possibility a REALITY!

We are so fortunate to have access to education anywhere in this country, please help us make it possible for the less fortunate.
Let's get together and make a difference. We count on you!

We will keep you update with pictures throughout the project and any SHARE and DONATION of any amount will be appreciated.

Hello to all of you wonderful donors,
This message is to talk to you about some updates in the project...
So far, we have had a few obstacles that I will tell you about in this message.

Since the beginning of the project, we have only been able to complete two meeting in the village. One of the reason is that there has been severe rain on one of the days of the meetings and the people from the village do not accustom to go out in the rain, as they all have to walk to get to the location.
Only the major roads are paved and going out in the rain with their little ones isn't an mostly an option. Therefore the meeting was postponed.

On the following week, Yosenia's dad had to go into emergency for heart surgery because he was very unwell. ( Yosenia takes care of doing the meetings)

She is very nice and she promised to hold a meeting this week.
Yesterday was the day of the meeting, it was raining but 9parents still made it to the meeting and 7 more children were registered for the program.
We have to understand that if people to move in the rain, it means that they are very interested and did not want to miss out...

Secondly, we have not been able to update pictures of the school because, although the principal supports this idea, she is afraid that uploading pictures of the school might cause her problems before the program is approved by the Minister Of Education.
We are currently accruing the signatures of 140 people and as soon as it is completed, we will present it to the minister in the city of Monte Cristi which is the capital of the Province.

We are very confident that it will be approved. We simply need to continue working together to make it happen.

On the good hand, the village is talking about this project and they are extremely happy that this movement is in action. They are looking forward to seeing it unfold. Thanks to you, they will have a different future and a different direction in their lives.

We thank you for participating, for sharing, for donating and for reading our updates.

Please continue to support this priject by talking about us and encouraging other to participate as well.
TOGETHER WE CAN!
