Ms. Parr's Classroom

Hi!! In about two weeks, I will start teaching Art, African-American studies, and World History at Madison S. Palmer High School, in Marks, Mississippi. As a first year teacher, I am both excited and anxious about starting the year off on the right foot.

I am trying to establish a classroom library and make my classroom a place where students are excited to learn! Also, this is the first time Art is being offered at Madison S. Palmer HS, which is really awesome, but also means it’s a new department, where many of the pre-existing resources simply don’t exist. Plus, my school lacks the funding to make this happen: in 1997, the state legislature passed the Mississippi Adequate Education Program, which allocates state dollars to school districts based on an equitable funding formula. But the state has underfunded the program by more than $1.7 billion the past seven years alone, including this past year's shortfall of $211 million.

So this is where I humbly ask for your help. A donation of any amount is so appreciated! As well as any other supplies or lesson ideas! Thanks in advance!

Love,
Angela
