For Shannon Coffel Vial

Donation protected
On Friday, April 27th, Shannon Coffel Vial and five other family members were involved in a UTV accident while attending a birthday party in Spray, Oregon.

During the accident, the vehicle they were in rolled. Thankfully, most of the members of the family were able to walk away from the accident with minor scuffs and scrapes.  Lance Coffel, Shannon's brother suffered injuries including a concussion, a laceration on his lung, and broken ribs.

Shannon incurred serious injury when the full weight of the 1500, plus, pound vehicle landed on her lower left leg.  Family, friends, and volunteers from the community protected and cared for Shannon as best they could as they waited two desperate and terrifying hours for an Air Ambulance to arrive on the scene.

Shannon sustained major injuries including a broken tibia and complete, 360 degree, degloving of the tissue around the leg, from the knee to the ankle.

Shannon spent one night in the Emergency Room and has since spent every night in the Ortho/Neuro Unit of the hospital where she has endured three separate surgeries (including an extensive skin graft from her left hip). This week, her team will determine when she will be discharged to intensive Post-Acute Care, including In-Patient Rehabilitation.

Shannon lives a very active lifestyle. For the past 30 plus years she has been a Fitness Specialist, an expert in her field. Her specialty is Pilates, teaching groups and private clients.  She is also very involved with the older adult community in a position that she highly values.  As a Move Coordinator at this Retirement Community she satisfies another passion, which is connecting deeply with people as they transition through their lives.

She is experiencing on-going, vacillating levels of pain, and is in a city far from the majority of her nuclear and extended family and friends.  Even with all of this, she is maintaining an uplifted spirit, and positive outlook.

Shannon is well-known for her compassion and generosity.  We, her family, are asking that you please consider offering what you can to help her through this unbelievable experience.

She is accruing costs from the air ambulance and hospitalization, and will soon be accumulating charges from her Post-Acute Care.  She does have insurance, however, her future costs are expected to be immense due to the nature of her injury. She will definitely be unable to work for the next few months, and after that the future is uncertain.

Thank you, in advance, for contributing to the care and rehabilitation of this very deserving, altruistic, and loving aunt, sister, mother, and friend.  We will be posting regularly with updates on her care and costs.

Love,
Brittany, Denise, Robbie, and Gracie

(Please know that the tip is not necessary.  We spoke with Go Fund Me and they said that the way around it is to put 'zero' as the amount.  You may have to put 'other' as the amount first, and then put zero).
