Dwight Bondy - Memorial Fund

Last June on our way home from visiting our children and grandbabies, my husband had an ischemic stroke. After being medevac'd to Boise Idaho we spent the next 9 days working on retraining him to swallow and trying to regain some movement on his left side. At the beginning of very intense rehabilitation, we slowly saw some improvements and were planning our trip back home to Arizona. Unfortunately what progress he made eventually dissipated to the original paralyzed condition. The choices were pretty limited and urgent, so it was decided that uprooting our home and relocating to Boise to be with him was the best choice. Within a matter of weeks, months this was achieved with the help of family and my only friends in Boise, we found a skilled nursing home to continue his therapy and a new home to start our lives.

All of this happened between June 19th and October 1st. About August- September Dwight was transferred to a permeant room and is of now under Hospice care. We are taking every day one day at a time trying to make his end of life as comfortable as possible. Spending time with family and staying in touch with friends. Much of the time we are trying to get him to eat more than 2 bites a meal but, unfortunately, his favorite foods any foods disagree with his taste buds and he continues to lose large amounts of weight every week. Other times are spent reading to him (Westerns of course) and reminiscing about old memories, his childhood and speaking to our kids and 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and another great on the way as much as he is able.

Dwight's final wishes and ours as a family would be to return him (after he passes) to our old hometown in Washington to celebrate with family and friends and honor his life with stories and happy memories and happy tears. Sharing how he touched and changed the lives of those around him. Through his job as an All State insurance agent for the 35 years + , spending time with others doing one of his favorite pastimes - fishing in the Puget Sound, doing a little hunting, he became quite the expert on antique Colts and loved the hunt for a new treasure and the comradery of his fellow collectors. Every gun show you could spot him by his long gray hair, beard, black cowboy hat, and a Hawaiian shirt. He misses not being able to attend them and all of his friends he made over the years.

Through all of this we have tried to manage but, even with what medical coverage he has, we are beginning to face the reality of collections on unpaid hospital and emergency transport bills that were not covered; plus the cost final funeral/memorial expenses.

We THANK YOU for any help and prayers you can give us so he may be as happy and comfortable as possible during his final days.

"May you and those you hold dear be Blessed a hundred folds."
