Duncan House Hurricane Relief Fund
Donation protected
It's been a few months since Hurricane Matthew left St. Augustine, but the path of destruction remains for the Duncan family. The Duncan's home at 55 Oneida St in the Historic Lincolnville District remains a constant reminder of the havoc wreaked as the storm surged through our Nations Oldest City. It was estimated that 2 - 3 ft of storm surge entered the home causing a loss of all furnishings and extensive damages to the interior. Wind damages caused an old oak to be uprooted and exterior damage to the home.

This home was built between 1871 and 1885, making it one of the original structures of Lincolnville. In the Summer of 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. held a press conference right outside the home.

This GoFundMe was set up because we received word that the house is up for review to be demolished. The family is requesting a decision by the historical review board to be preserved because of the historical value. We are hoping to preserve if not the whole house, at least the section where Dr. King held his press conference. Regardless of whether the house can be saved fully or partially, the insurance claims will not cover the cost of reconstruction, renovations, or demolition.
Any and everything helps. We appreciate you sharing with others! God bless!
