On January 22, 2018, 3 year old Theresa was rushed to the hospital after a follow up appointment with her doctor after being on antibiotics for an ear infection.
It was discovered that her appendix had burst and her white blood cell count was dangerously low. She underwent emergency surgery on Monday evening to remove her appendix. However, the bacteria had already filled her abdominal cavity and entered her bloodstream.
The next few days were touch and go and on Thursday, January 25, 2018 she had another surgery to put in a colostomy bag because the bacteria had destroyed the tissue in her rectum.
On Sunday, January 28, she underwent another surgery to remove an abscess in her abdomen.
Kayla and Nick have both been out of work to be with her around the clock.
