Desert Theatreworks (DTW), Coachella Valley's inclusive 501(c)3 non-profit theatre, seeks donations and sponsors for KIDSWORKS, a tuition-free education program for ages 8-16.
What is Kidsworks?
Beginning October 2016, DTW will begin a new childrens theatre education program entitled KIDSWORKS. The program is designed for youth aged 8-16 yrs who will audition to become part of the KIDSWORKS company. Every Saturday, the children will receive acting, singing and dance training in order to present two mini-musical revues. These revues will be presented for DTW's main audience as a preshow for the corresponding production. The preshow includes: skits, songs and lots of danceing. The style is always musical theatre; however the music and material cover many genres. DTW will have 3 theatre instructors, costumers and superiviory staff who are all pre-screened to work with Children. The KIDSWORKS program will have multiple auditions throughout the year to accept new members, giving more opportunity to all in the Valley.
Why Kidsworks? "Growing up in Fresno, CA. I was always jealous of the other kids who performanced at GOOD COMPANY PLAYERS JUNIOR COMPANY. They were learning fundelmentals of theatre performance and getting a big chance to perform in front of large audiences." says Artistic Director Lance Phillips-Martinez. "I set up Kidsworks to be a training groud for younger performers who have the talent and drive, but could not afford the high tuition prices currently offered by other local theatres and dance studios. Kidsworks should be a jump start to any student who wants to be in the performing arts."
How does my donation help?
Your donation will help DTW make the program tuition free! There are many expenses to cover for this program, including: instructors, costuming, musicians, royalies, and rehearsal space. These expenses are continuous as long as the program is running. Your donation is not only needed for the program, but sincerely appreciated.

Now in it's fourth season, Desert Theatreworks (DTW) is a theatre company serving the Coachella Valley. Our aim is to provide quality theatre participation for the entire community. This 2015-16 Season, Desert Theatreworks will again produce nine plays and musicals throught the year at the Arthur Newman Theatre.
Mission Statement
Desert Theatreworks was organized for the benefit of members of the community to provide education, entertainment and exposure to cultural experiences. The objective for the theatre company is to become a resource for both the residents and visitors to the Coachella Valley to enrich the cultural depth and education of the community at large. Desert Theatreworks will strive to present imaginative, innovative, and entertaining plays and musicals for the entire community. An effort will also be made to bring to life works that are rarely produced.
