Drink On Music Video & Release

Hi everyone,

I am sure you are here because you are a supporter of my dreams, a new follower to my journey or a friend (we are all friends here). For those that do not know me my name is Kyle Cartner and my dream is MUSIC! 

I grew up in a small country town in outback Australia. After studying music through school and playing regular gigs, I knew it was what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, I didn't chase the dream from the start. I worked a full-time job as an underground miner for around 5 years. I was not happy in my career, I needed to make a change. So I did.....

In 2015 I left my job and I moved to Tamworth - The Country Music Capital of Australia. Best choice of my life! Playing music full-time is all I have ever wanted. I have had the opportunity to pen some great songs with some great writers!! Which leads me to the reason you clicked this link......this song!

I wrote "Drink On" early 2016 with Katrina Burgoyne - now based in Nashville, TN. The song reminds me of my teenage years. A girl, a group of friends, out in the sticks having a fun time!!

I knew after writing a verse and chorus to this song that it was the best work I had ever been involved in, I had to release it for myself!! 

With recording the track in mind, I had to put a plan in place to make it happen. I was working part-time around 20 hours a week, gigging 2-3 nights a week and doing my very best to save the funds needed to make it happen! It wasn't quite enough though. I started a GoFundMe to record my debut release. That GoFundMe campaign was a success and in September 2017, my debut single was in my hands ready for your ears!!

We planned on releasing "Drink On" in November 2017 but with hours cut at work and no income for 4 weeks, I had to postpone the release due to not having the required funds to make a music video. 

January 2018, I played Tamworth Country Music Festival - Australia's largest music festival. My band and I performed 8 shows for thousands of people across 10 days. We teased my song "Drink On" and the feedback was more then I could have imagined. People that had been following my journey online and at gigs were in the crowd to sing along. The feeling of a crowd singing along to your own song is surreal, a feeling I dreamt about since I was a teen in high school. 

After each show, I was approached and asked - "When can we get a copy of Drink On!?" "Do you have any CDs?" "Can we see your song on YouTube?"

Midway through the country music festival, I received a phone call from my employer - "Hey mate, we don't need you to come back. Thanks for your contribution. Take care! - beep beep beep beep.

Ahh, the pleasures of casual employment.

Here I am, once again making a living on music. I am making enough to survive, not quite enough to save for that goal of releasing the song.

My goal is to release this song in June 2018, along with a Music Video. The combined cost of the release, music video and getting around on a radio tour is going to be around the $5000 - $6000 mark. I have done my best to save $1000, I do not think I will be able to meet the difference in time to record the video and put the release into motion.

This is where I need your help. All donations will go directly toward the making of my music video and the release of my debut single. Every penny will help and hopefully (fingers crossed), my song will be released! It has only taken 2 years to get this one song out, but I promise it is worth the wait!
