Hi, my name is Andrea Lindner. I am starting this page for my friend Melanie Benjamin's family. Her 19 year old son was diagnosed with cancer.
Keandre Benjamin is the son of Melanie Benjamin and Michael Benjamin. He was recently diagnosed with a very rare and agressive form of cancer called Gammadelta T-Cell Lymphoma. This type of cancer is less than 1% of all lymphoma diagnoses worldwide. It is very difficult to put into remission, and has a high probability of recurrance. That being said, this kid is young, tough, and too sweet of a soul to be leaving us anytime soon. It's gonna be a long battle, but we believe God is on our side. Had he not been in Charlotte, NC when he was sick this last time, this may have been overlooked again, as we believe it to have been here at home in Wheeling, WV. Currently his docs are saying that he needs a minimum of 3 to 4 rounds of chemotherapy before he gets a bone marrow transplant. The chemotherapy schedule is 3 days on and 3 weeks off, as long as there are no complications. If all is well he will be eligible for the transplant in 3 to 4 months. He just received his first chemo treatment over the Thanksgiving holiday.
This page is to benefit Keandre (Dre) and his immediate family. Your donations will directly cover their living expenses, travel expenses for medical treatments/surgeries, and everything that his medical insurance will not cover.
These folks are on the verge of financial crisis and need immediate assistance. Dre cannot work, his mother walked away from her job in Wheeling, WV to be at his side in Charlotte, NC, and his father has had to take some time off to support his son as well.
These people are family to me. They are decent, hardworking and kind. The stress of fearing for your life or the life of your child is overwhelming enough. Please help support them as they walk through this nightmare together.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I am so very grateful for each and every one of you who help this family, and I know that they will be as well.
God bless you,
Andrea
