Jason's Kidneys

Donation protected
My name is Katia Garay and I am 18 years old. My dad is sick, but if you knew him you wouldn't be able to tell.
His name is Jason Mortensen, he's 38 years old and has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 6 years old. As he has aged the disease has taken its toll and developed into kidney disease. His kidneys are at 16% function and he will begin dialysis soon.Him and my mom, Mary Mortensen, took me in when I was 14 years old in 2014. At the time, I was an orphan, with the death of my mother placing me into foster care. I didn't know much about it, but the stereotype deemed foster parents as cruel and lacking love for the youth they cared for.
"I'm a hugger. "
Those were my foster mother's first words as she wrapped me in her arms the day she met me and smiled softly at me. My dad, not always far from her gently shook my hand and smiled.
I have been with my family for 4 years. Throughout these years Jason Mortensen became the father I never had growing up. He's the hardest working man I have ever seen and has the kindest heart despite having not had the best start in life.
But there's a problem, my dad is SICK. He has an upcoming surgery scheduled in several months to have a kidney and pancreas transplant. While insurance can cover a large part of it, the rest will be coming out of pocket. $1000 is a small base line but anything helps.
Jason is not only my father but also to my younger adopted brother. He is a loving husband to my mother. He's been there for me when I needed him.

I need to help him and my family.
Please help me.
