I am VERY excited to announce that I will be going on my first medical mission trip to KENYA in June 2017! This will be my first time traveling internationally as a chiropractic physician (NOT working for Team USA). The focus of our trip will be basic healthcare education as well as staffing medical clinics. I will be the only chiropractor going among a slew of incredible health care providers; medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, physician assistants with nurses and pharmacists all from Western Montana and Washington.
I’ve been told that I have the natural ability to help people. As a healthcare professional I think that should be inherent. As many of you know I volunteer for many sports teams; locally and nationally. From my clinic staff and patients to Olympic athletes and high school students, I enjoy helping as much as I can. I’m looking forward to expanding my outreach to the Kenyans and learning how I can best serve their needs. I feel that serving others is a gift and I’m excited to bring my special skill set to such an underserved population. I’m looking forward to the self-fulfillment and personal growth this journey will provide me.
Although this trip will be life changing in so many ways, it also comes at a big cost. Being a small business owner and doctor (still paying back student loans), the price tag of this trip is astronomical. This is why I’m humbling asking for donations. The price of the trip is $4,200 which includes airfare, meals, transportation, and lodging. Any amount donated will go towards these costs.
A little about the organization I will be traveling with, Spring of Hope International , is a non-profit based out of Spokane, WA. The focus of Spring of Hope is 1) Clean Water 2) Educational Opportunities 3) Economic Empowerment and 4) Spiritual Development. Our medical trip will be under the umbrella of Educational Opportunities, focusing on health education as well as treatments. The organization was founded in 2008 and runs trips annually.
