One Less Orphan: Medlin Adoption

There are an estimated 153 million orphans on our planet. If all the orphans were a country, they would be the 9th most populous country in the world. Only 1% of orphans are being adopted. With your help, there will be one less orphan in the world.
Hello! We are Bret and Theryne Medlin. Our home is nestled in the Medlin family fields of Union County, NC. Together, we have one darling daughter, a snuggly cairn terrier, several beehives, and eight chickens. We love Jesus, traveling, camping, planting seeds, and quiet evenings by the firepit. We live a simple and extraordinary life in Christ.
And we are adopting from India! Over the years, God has been moving in our family in the most amazing, and to be honest, sometimes difficult, ways. Through all of these seasons, He has been preparing us for this moment. For right now. He's been readying us to bring home our second child from India (the most orphaned country in the world). God placed upon our hearts the plight of the orphan and called us to act. We are terrified and have no idea what to expect, but we know that the Lord is faithful and we trust Him. We cannot wait to bring our baby home!
As we take this giant leap of faith, we call upon you, our family and friends, to lift us up. We cannot do this alone. The costs are great, about $35,000, but we know that our God does impossible things and that He will provide. We are currently in the homestudy process with our adoption agency, Lifeline Child Services. There are several fees due right now, that equate to $4,000 and another $3, 500 in November. The homestudy process, which can take two to four months, must be completed before we can begin applying for grants. We know that the Lord will supply all our financial needs, but we would love for you to get involved. In Philippians 4:17, Paul assures his supporters that he does not seek the gift itself, but “the profit which increases to YOUR account” (emphasis added). In other words, God was supplying all of Paul’s needs, but Paul wanted fellow believers to share in the blessing. We would like to invite you to do the same. Maybe you aren't called to adopt, but by giving you are still sharing in the care of orphans. Your donation will help a little boy or girl find us, their forever family. And that's the most beautiful gift anyone could give.
