Dove Engineering Team

We are Dove Science Academy's Engineering Team.  Last year was our first year participating in the Solar Car Challenge, placing 8th out of 20 teams. For the past year we have been working tirelessly and diligently to build and improve our student built solar car. We are the only high school team in Oklahoma attending the Solar Car Challenge out of the 49 teams that are competing this year.The Solar Car Challenge is a top project-based STEM Initiative which helps motivate students in Science, Engineering, and Alternative Energy. The SCC Education Program was developed in 1993 as a high school extra-curricular program, but later evolved into the Solar Car Challenge Foundation.  The 2019 Solar Car Challenge is being hosted by Texas Instruments, and will take place in a closed-track event at the world-famous Texas Motor Speedway.




We have worked arduously throughout the year in hopes of being able to compete again this year in the Solar Car Challenge. We have spent our Friday afternoons and Saturdays learning how to weld, grind, and help our community. Dove’s Engineering Club is not just any engineering club. We have built prosthetic hands using 3D printers, and built modified toy cars for disabled children. We have learned useful skills all while helping our community.

Our school is a small public charter school in Oklahoma City. The majority of our peers are well-below the poverty line, and 83% of our peers qualify for free or reduced lunch.

We hope to participate in this years Solar Car Challenge. Unfortunately, our budget is not large enough. We hope that you will consider donating money to our cause so that we may participate in this year’s Solar Car Challenge and enable us to be able to continue helping members of our community.
